Participants must be 18 or older to play with WFHA.

WFHA welcomes new and returning hockey players. The club consists of people who have played at various levels including high school, college club, college varsity, and internationally. There is no minimum skill level requirement to play with WFHA. Those new or returning to the sport are recommended to join our pick up sessions. Highly experienced and competitive players are recommended to join league.

2. How does WFHA work?

WFHA is an adult hockey club. Here, you can meet people who love the sport. WFHA strives to create playing opportunities for adults in the DMV.

The main playing opportunities include League, Tournaments, and Pick-up. In addition to hockey, we also host social events throughout the year.

3. What is the difference between the hockey league and pick-up?

In Spring, Fall, and Winter WFHA hosts a league and pick-up play. League play is a 4 team league, where teams are chosen at the start of each season. In the league scores and standings are kept and a championship is held at the end.

Each season also features pick-up hockey on a different day that is less competitive and scores are not kept. This is perfect for people of all skill levels, especially people looking to get back into the sport. Specific information about season play can be found here.

Players can buy a full season pass ($90-120, depending on the season) or they can purchase individual drop in dates if they plan on missing a large number of season dates ($15-20, depending on the season.)

WFHA is a place to not only play hockey, but make friends as well. All social events are open to all players, and are advertised via the mailing list. Check out our Instagram for photos of past events.

8. How does WFHA vary from European/Argentinian Clubs?

A number of our members come from Europe or Argentina, so we want to point out that there are some major differences with US clubs. WFHA does not own a club house and does not own a field. Properties are rented through universities, schools, or local parks.

WFHA does compete against other clubs during the year, but we do not compete every week like you may have experienced elsewhere.

WFHA also does not cut members or place them in tiers. Members may self select which divisions they want to play in.
